Las Vegas Silver Sevens Casino Review (2014)
The Silver Sevens Casino Hotel is at the gateway of the Las Vegas Strip. Formerly Terrible’s Casino, this casino property sits just one mile east of the strip with architecture that has a Tuscan feel. The outside is fairly old having been originally built in 1981. Since then, the property has changed ownership a few times. The most recent ownership change came with added financial investment in the property, including a full renovation of the inside spaces in 2013, when the name of the property also changed to Silver Sevens.
Silver Sevens is a slot machine players paradise, with many of the very newest slot machines able to be found here. The casino gaming floor has around 1000 different slot machines, and a handful of table games, with Texas Hold ’em tournaments happening daily. I saw many iconic slot machines like the Wizard of Oz series. There were about five different Wizard of Oz games. The newest Wizard of Oz slot machine was Ruby Slippers 2, which utilizes new technology that incorporates a moving chair to mimic walking down the Yellow Brick Road. It’s cool.
During the week, it was surprising to see as many people sitting around the table games as there were. This casino seems to have a good locals following, a sure sign that the Las Vegas gaming industry is picking back up. That level of visitation by locals also indicates that there are good casino promotions here.
Silver Sevens is a unique venue. This is one of the very few Las Vegas casinos, especially so close to the Las Vegas strip, that has multiple levels of gaming. It’s also the home to an ever rarer treat, Bingo, which is located on the second floor. Near the Bingo hall, you can find The Sterling Silver Spoon, a 24 hour cafe serving some of that old style Las Vegas food, with large portions and cheap prices. As an added bonus, The Backroom at the Sterling Silver is located near the back of the cafe. This is an exclusive restaurant that brings out the best in steak and seafood twice a week on Friday and Saturdays.
If you’re looking to stay near the Las Vegas strip, but not on it, I find that the Silver Sevens is a great location, considering it’s only a mile from the heart of Las Vegas. This is also a great location to consider for tourists – especially on public holiday weekends. When hotel room prices on the Las Vegas strip can reach upwards of $350 a night on a peak holiday, Silver Seven’s $130 a room night wanes in comparison, especially since the nights surrounding the peak holiday are right about $40 or under. If you stayed for a full week, your room cost would average at about $65 a night, which is great value for this location.
So, whether you’re in Las Vegas Nevada for a quick holiday from a neighbouring US state, travelling from across the USA or from another country, Silver Seven’s is going to be one of the best places to spend the night, and not break the bank account. It’s close to all the main Las Vegas strip action with all the latest and greatest shows and restaurants like ultra-swank Nobu just a few minutes away, but Silver Sevens also has its own good casino and food action going on – with lots of great deals. It’s not called Terribles Casino anymore – and it’s not a terrible experience anymore either.
