The Ellis Island casino and brewery in Las Vegas Nevada is located on the corner of Koval and Flamingo roads, not too far from the main Las Vegas Strip. Despite its strip proximity, the Ellis Island casino establishment still holds on to some of Vegas’ old style, with cheap drinks, good food, loose slots and a warm atmosphere.

Ellis Island is a pretty small property when compared to the much larger strip casinos, but the spacing is just perfect and it doesn’t give you an overwhelming cramped feeling when you’re inside. The casino slot floor also has quite a lot of the newer slot machines, one of which is The Walking Dead. I gave this a try, and I felt like my wallet was dead afterwards. I’m told though that if you can manage to get the infamous bonus on it, the payout is rather nice. And by nice, I mean more than enough to take yourself and friends to lunch.

There is a small table gaming area in the middle of Ellis Island with about eight casino games tables, however only a few of the casino tables were in use while I was there: Blackjack, and Three Card Poker. The gaming table spreads will suit advantage casino players. Being closer to the strip the minimum wage was $5 a hand on blackjack, but the max bet was $5000 per hand. One of their current casino promotions is Happy Hour Craps, which is a great low roller play. Join them every day from 3pm – 5pm and pay just $3 for a spin.

If gambling really isn’t your style, but performing is, you’ll enjoy visiting Ellis Island. Karaoke is popular here, and this is the highest rate locals karaoke spot in town. Beginning at 9pm and going to nearly dawn, you can go in and sing your heart out, normally with karaoke tracks, but sometimes with a live supporting band.

The Ellis Island casino and brewery complex is really fun for locals, but being so close to the Las Vegas strip, a lot of tourists find their way here, or stay just next door at the adjacent motel. If you got a corner room on the three story motel facing the strip, you would have one amazing view of the Caesars Entertainment’s new Linq project, the newest landmark in town. In Las Vegas, there’s always something exciting happening.

So, if you find yourself on the strip near on Las Vegas Boulevard, take a ten minute walk east on Flamingo Road, and check out this nice, little local establishment. Ellis Island is a whole island of entertainment.
