This being the case, it is better for the beginner to take some steps to speed up their learning process.

Many online poker sites have “House pros” who offer tips you can read right on the site. Some of these tips are geared especially for beginners and are a great way for new online poker players to get a head start on the competition.
Watch Online Poker Games
You can watch online poker games for free. Watching games at all levels is a great way to get a feel for how people play, which techniques are effective and which ones are not.
Be sure to watch for a while to get a true feel. Who wins one pot or even a few in a row can just be a measure of luck and not tell you much about skilled play.
Read a Poker Book
There are plenty of poker books out there and some are even geared specifically towards online poker play. You’ll definitely need to augment these books with personal experience, but if you study the books well, they can start paying dividends almost immediately.
You may find that early in your online poker career you are making more mistakes than you would like. This will change as you play, and if you follow the suggestions above, you should be able to make your way up the learning curve much more quickly. And, don’t forget to have fun!
