Las Vegas – A Changing Cycle
There’s always lots happening in Las Vegas, even in a time of Covid-19 with around 800 live new cases each day. It’s been a year or so since I’ve been physically in Las Vegas, and it’s true to say I’m looking forward to being able to return there – if and when international flights and borders allow. I’m thinking that could be a year or more away – that’s ok, time to play with more online casinos and save some winnings for a Las Vegas holiday is just fine with me!
I was thinking today about all of the NEW places I’ll be able to visit in my next Las Vegas trip. Firstly, there’s the new Circa which opened a couple of months ago in Downtown Las Vegas. I watched the construction of this hotel, and it’s HUGE. With its Stadium Swim area and amazing atriums, this looks like it’s going to be a lot of FUN to visit!
Then there will be the new Resorts World complex which is on the Las Vegas Strip next to Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. This casino has been a long time coming, and I’d walked past the construction site during SEVERAL Las Vegas visits. It’s going to be a huge and exciting property, and because it’s Asia-focused, I expect there will be a lot of high-limit gambling, and good comps too.
And the new Virgin Hotel and Casino should also be opened, with it’s totally remodelled hotel rooms and casino floor, and a new casino operator in the Mohegan Sun gaming team. I’d stayed at the previous Hard Rock Hotel and Casino many times, always having a ball. It will be truly exciting to stay at the property again under the Virgin Hotel and Casino banner. I’m looking forward to seeing what Richard Branson’s magic touch has done to this iconic property.
At the time of writing, Las Vegas casinos are only allowed around 25% occupancy. That will need to change if Las Vegas is going to survive, for sure. These casinos make lots of money when they’re trading normally, but they cost a lot to run even when they are idle or running on partial capacity. Will that force further changes, amalgamations, and closures in the Las Vegas area? Time will tell. Perhaps the Covid-19 vaccines will make a global difference and allow travel without quarantine to occur again. Let’s hope so. Alternatively, I’ll continue playing at the various reputable casinos featured on this blog and make some cash that way!
