Well, the Internet is surely an exciting place! And there’s lots of information to be found in the over 3 billion pages online at any time. But I wonder how much of it is information simply repeated from other sites?

Why do I ask that? This morning, as I was trawling across some sites in Google I found a blog site that is REPEATING some of my articles. Word for word, line for line… Wow, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, huh. Must be good information I’m providing! 🙂

To be fair, I don’t really mind people using the information on this site, all of which is unique and written by me personally, as starter content / ideas for their own articles. And I don’t even mind people placing the articles on their own sites – but if you do this, you MUST include the following details:

1) You must make very clear that YOU are NOT the original author. The original author is ME. You must tell people that.

2) You must provide a link to the actual original article for users to follow, and also an intro line along the lines of “Here’s an interesting article I found at Beat the Casinos – link to this article is URL” (etc.)

3) If you do copy articles across, please also include the original HTML links. Telling people about a book (for example) but then not providing a link for them to get further information is not helpful.

I’m not in any way suggesting that the copying of my articles has been an effort of straight plagurism. I honestly suspect it’s a legitimate “mistake”, or simply a misunderstanding of how general author copyright / reprinting should be handled. In any case I’ve written to the site owner to see if things can get resolved.

In the meantime, if you’d like to republish any of the information you find here, you can, but only if you follow those simple rules above. In fact, if you let me know you want to re-use the information, I might even be willing to write you one or two exclusive articles for your OWN site!

I love the fact that we’re getting the message of how to beat the casinos out to a wider audience (remember, I want you to win), but it’s got to be handled in a way that’s fair to all. Regardless of how many sites use / republish my information, you can always be assured that by coming to ME you’re getting the information AT THE SOURCE.
